Why join NWP? We ask you Why Not?

Who is a woman? She is anyone she wants to be.

They say there is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise. Women are strong, kind and fervent. However, there are issues that break down even the strongest of women. Whether they are modern problems such as the pressure to juggle a career and family and sexual harassment at work, or the more rural ones such as child marriages and female infanticide – women across India are struggling every day to prove themselves and make their voice heard.

You, as a woman residing in India, can either turn a blind eye to these infuriating problems or do something about them. As they say, behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back. You could form a tribe of your own by joining National Women’s Parliament’s (NWP) movement to reshape the future of women in India.

Joining you will be spirited and determined women from all walks of life. NWP’s gems include Radhika Shah, an ex-Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary General, United Nations, who is a co-founder of the ‘READ’ Trust which is committed to rural education and development work in Maharashtra. Also supporting our cause of enabling and encouraging the social, political and economic empowerment of women across India are Vijaya Rahatkar, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha, Abha Singh, a High Court lawyer, and Dolly Thakore, a theatre actress and social activist. Apart from these, we have with us consultant psychologist Dr. Maya Kripalani, social activistDr. Razia Patel and fitness guru and motivator Nishrin Parekh. The youngest first lady of Maharashtra Amruta Fadnavis and Minister of Women and Child Welfare Pankaja Munde are striving to empower and unite women across India with us.

You have a chance to meet all these strong-minded women along with many more at the launch of NWP’s Mumbai Chapter. Following the success of our Amaravati Chapter a few months ago, we are setting up chapters in various states in India. At the Mumbai event, you will not only get to know what women empowerment means to these successful women but also be able to decide which cause interests you the most – whether it is supporting women in distress or making our voice heard in boardrooms.

We invite you to be a part of this change. The Mumbai Chapter will be inaugurated on 29 March 2018 at 10am ISDI Parsons Mumbai (ISDI Tower, One Indiabulls Centre, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400013). Spread the word and bring along all the inspiring women you know and admire. We are leading the charge for better decisions, laws and policies for the betterment of women across India. For this, we need women like you to join us to bring about real reforms across India. You can RSVPhere. Let’s share, spread and spearhead this movement!
