ABOUT NWP
SEED THOUGHT

“Knowledge and research in the area of social, political and economic empowerment of women through the platform of National Women's Parliament will result in creating a conducive environment for nation building through participation of women in the process of decision making. This apolitical platform of NWP is certain to unfold as a unique model of public-private partnership in the country, engaging other democratic institutions to replicate and take this momentum deep and wider in the whole of India in the coming years.”- Sri Rahul V Karad, Founder & Convenor, NWP
ABOUT NWP
The National Women’s Parliament (NWP) is an nonpartisan platform that unites women from diverse sectors—such as politics, education, sports, corporate, media, arts, judiciary, and young aspiring female students—to address and discuss gender-specific issues. This initiative promotes women's social, economic, and political empowerment by facilitating the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and research.
Women’s empowerment is crucial for bridging the gender gap and enabling women to make informed life choices. Investing in women leads to increased productivity, improved health, reduced hunger, and stronger economies, thereby fostering sustainable development. Despite being the world's largest democracy, Indian women remain underrepresented in decision-making roles, facing various socio-economic and psychological barriers that limit their participation in all areas of life.
The NWP was conceived through the collaborative vision of Dr. Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, and under the visionary leadership of Shri Rahul V. Karad. The inaugural NWP event was a three-day conclave that aimed to connect women from different backgrounds, providing a space for deliberation, discussion, debate, and mentoring on a wide range of women-centric issues and challenges, fostering a supportive environment for empowerment and growth.
OVERVIEW

National Women’s Parliament (NWP) provides a platform for women from diverse background. Women from politics, social sector, education, sports, corporate, media, arts and culture, judiciary and young aspiring girl students come together to stage their experiences, share knowledge and research in the area of women’s social economic and political empowerment.

Women’s empowerment is a process that seeks to bridge the inequalities between men and women—strengthening women’s ability to make choices about their own lives. Investing in women and girls leads to increased productivity, re-investment in families, reduced hunger, improved health, strengthened economies, and more sustainable nations.
Though we are the largest democracy, women in India find themselves under-represented and far-removed from decision making levels. Women face many political, socio-economic, ideological and psychological obstacles. There is a dire need to remove these obstacles for their equal participation in all Spheres of Life. We must ensure that young girl students realize their potential, guide and nurture them, so that they believe there is a bright future that awaits them. On this backdrop, and by a conscious deliberation between Dr. Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, Former Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Shri. N. Chandrababu Naidu, Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Shri. Rahul V. Karad, Managing Trustee, MAEER’s Group and Executive President, MITWPU, the seed thought of NWP was conceived. The First NWP was a 3 Day conclave, aimed to establish a connect between women of diverse backgrounds providing them a platform for deliberations, discussions, debates, mentoring for evolving reciprocal and continuing assignments on all women centric issues and challenges.
